In Men’s Health Month, “He Said Yes” Uplifts Stories of Healthy Masculinity

What happens when a man says yes—to love, to healing, to community? He Said Yes, a new interactive theater show from award-winning storyteller Nerissa Street, invites the public to share true stories of men who’ve shown up with open hearts and bold support—not just in romance, but in workplaces, homes, hospitals, and the halls of policy.

Launching today is a nationwide call for stories that highlight the transformative power of men saying yes: Yes to healthy love. Yes to community well-being. Yes to a future where everyone flourishes.

“We often hear stories of men behaving badly—saying no and being bullies. ‘Boys will be boys,’ they say. But I’ve personally experienced men who are open-hearted, community-focused, and who still love a good game of basketball,” says Street. “As an ambitious woman, I’ve heard yes from more men than no. I wanted to tell that story—so my sisters don’t lose hope, and my brothers know we see them.”

The project is seeking real-life accounts of:
– Men supporting partners, family, and friends with love and consistency
– Mentors, managers, and peers who opened doors for others’ success
– Doctors, advocates and caregivers navigating health systems with compassion
– Leaders saying yes to policies rooted in justice and collective well-being

How to Submit:
Participants can share their true story—written, video, or audio (5 minutes or less)—by visiting www.hesaidyesfilm.com Submissions are welcome from anyone with a powerful “He Said Yes” moment to share.

The stories will then be curated, anonymized, and told in an interactive theater show on Friday, September 5, 2025, with an after-show panel of male psychologists, business leaders and relationship experts to discuss the impact of societal pressures on male identity. Selected stories may also be featured in other media or digital storytelling platforms. This
production is partially supported by a grant from the Broward County Cultural Division.

Reimagining Masculinity
At a time when masculinity is often defined by aggression, domination, or silence, He Said Yes dares to tell another truth: that men everywhere are already practicing love, empathy, and accountability. This project doesn’t just honor them—it invites more to step into the
story.

Follow the movement @hesaidyesfilm on all platforms and help amplify a new narrative of what it means to be a man in this moment.
