Miami Takeover Returns: Celebrating 50 Years of Go-Go, Art, and Culture

Sun, sound, and soul collide as The Miami Takeover (MTO) returns to Miami Beach from July 25–28, 2025, for a three-day cultural explosion of Go-Go beats, Black excellence, and artful celebration. Backed by the Greater Miami Conventions and Visitors Bureau (GMCVB) and the Miami Beach Visitors and Convention Authority (MBVCA), MTO is an official part of the acclaimed Art of Black Miami series—uniting locals and travelers under the sizzling South Florida sun for an experience like no other.

For nearly two decades, The Miami Takeover has brought the heat to Miami Beach, transforming summer weekends into unforgettable cultural experiences. As a D.C.-based event production company rooted in Black excellence, MTO continues to redefine what it means to celebrate, connect, and uplift. With its blend of soulful music, vibrant art, and purposeful community engagement, the Miami Takeover is more than a weekend getaway—it’s a movement.

Founded by three visionary HBCU alumni from the Washington D.C. area—Wylie Kynard, Antwoine McCoy, and Vincent Peden—MTO blends the rich spirit of the DMV with the vibrant energy of Miami. Designed especially for HBCU graduates, cultural tastemakers, and lovers of authentic art, music, and community, this signature event hits its 17th year stronger than ever.

“Our goal is to create a space where Black culture is not only celebrated but uplifted,” said Vincent Peden. “We’re thrilled to honor 50 years of Go-Go music at our flagship event—The Art of Go-Go Culture Fest—right in the heart of Miami Beach.”
