The brand that turned sushi into a global love affair has officially landed in the U.S.—and it’s making its debut in Doral, Miami. With a bold, flavor-packed menu, vibrant design, and an energy that doesn’t quit, Nacionsushi offers a dining experience that feels fresh, cosmopolitan, and unmistakably Nacion.
Born in Panama in 2014, Nacionsushi set out to redefine the sushi scene—trading the typical minimalist vibe for an explosion of fuchsia, orange, and purple, glowing neon lights, oversized graphics, and deep house beats. Add in one of the region’s most diverse menus of Japanese and Southeast Asian flavors, and it’s no surprise the brand quickly became one of Latin America’s hottest hospitality exports.
From one restaurant to over 40 locations across 11 countries—including Colombia, Costa Rica, Puerto Rico, and the Dominican Republic—Nacionsushi has grown into a culinary phenomenon. Now, Miami gets a first taste of this international sensation, with Buenos Aires set to join the family next.
“Bringing Nacionsushi to the United States is about more than opening a new location—it’s about sharing the way we see dining,” said Milton Reyes, CEO of Nacionsushi. “We’ve built a brand that thrives on curiosity, inclusivity, and fun, and Miami is the perfect city to join our Nacion—a borderless community that celebrates flavor, culture, and connection.”
The Menu
At Nacion, the menu is a journey of flavors—crafted to surprise the adventurous, delight the traditional palate, and satisfy every craving in between. Drawing inspiration from Japan and Southeast Asia, the extensive offerings range from fresh sashimis and sushi rolls to poke bowls, baos, tempuras, stir-fries, noodles, and more. Clearly marked vegetarian, gluten-friendly, and keto-friendly options ensure inclusivity.
At the center of the experience are the famous XL rolls—protein-packed, rice-light, and available in over 30 bold varieties. Additional favorites include the Crispy Pizzas made with toasted sushi rice base topped with fresh ingredients like smoked salmon, tuna, crab, vegetables, or a mixed combination; Taquitos Tuk Tuk with tuna tartare and avocado; a flame-seared Nigiri Trío layered with cheese and yellow chili sauce; Onigiris with fluffy Japanese rice and a golden crispy exterior filled with salmon, tuna or chicken; Thai-inspired Laab Tacos wrapped in lettuce; and the Nasi Goreng—Indonesia’s iconic fried rice, wok-tossed with vegetables, soy sauce, spices, coconut milk, and finished with an egg tortilla spiral. For dessert, indulgences include Dulce de Leche Wonton and delicate Mochis.
Nación’s beverage program mirrors the creativity of its menu, featuring cocktails, infusions, and juices designed to enhance its bold flavors. Signature highlights include the ever-popular Sangría Nación—offered two-for-one all day, every day—along with refreshing options like the Tangy Ginger Fizz, the floral Tokyo Rose, and the spirited Japanese Mule. House infusions such as Apple & Aromatic Herbs and Ginger & Honey add depth, while freshly pressed blends like Passionfruit with Ginger and the vibrant Nación Juice (orange, pineapple, basil, and honey) bring a bright, natural touch. A curated selection of wines and beers rounds out the program.
The Design
The creators of Nacionsushi envisioned each restaurant as a space where every corner invites guests to travel and dream—a kind of urban fantasy inspired by Asia that awakens the senses and transports diners to another dimension. The architecture combines an industrial framework with vibrant touches of Japan and Southeast Asia, where every detail—from a neon pop-art ceiling to a cherry blossom tree anchoring the central plaza—has been designed to immerse visitors in a sensory journey.
The Miami location continues this ethos with Nacionsushi’s signature multi-environment design, conceived as a journey across distinct spaces:
- “La Central” – the main dining room, energized with striking imagery and tabletops adorned with postage stamps from across Asia.
- “El Comedor de Vietnam”– vibrant and communal, with high tables and columns stamped with immigration seals, designed for groups.
- Thai Lounge – Nature and Eastern culture coexist in this space, with a design surrounded by vertical gardens and Thai images and symbols.
- The Customs – warm and cozy, with tapestries and soft furnishings that create a more intimate atmosphere.
- “El Callejón de Tokyo” (Tokyo’s Alley) – the restaurant’s bathroom corridor, transformed into a neon-lit alley that transports guests straight to Tokyo. Filled with murals, lights, and sounds, it’s designed as the restaurant’s most Instagrammable spot.
Other design details amplify the brand’s playful spirit: the striking counter, shaped like an airplane fuselage, becomes a stage for sushi and cocktail preparation—an homage to the journeys that connect cultures. Nearby, the iconic neon sign “the sushi way is my way” fuses retro glow with geometric precision. A metallic curtain adorned with urban art evokes Asia’s bustling street markets, while DJ-curated playlists pulse through the space, reinforcing the brand’s high-energy identity.
“Our goal is to create a dining experience that feels fresh, modern, and distinctly Nacion—crafted with refined flavors, inventive combinations, and an energy that’s open to all,” says Alex Vallejos, Owner Operator of Nacionsushi “Miami’s global character reflects our own—we’re not defined by borders or age groups. Whether you’re here for a family dinner, cocktails with friends, or late-night bites, Nacionsushi adapts to the moment while always staying bold, playful, and high-quality.
