The Miami Takeover to Host High-Energy Tribute with Art and Live Music at the Miami Beach Bandshell

This summer, the Miami Takeover will bring the energy, rhythm, and legacy of Go-Go music to the heart of South Florida with the Art of Go-Go Culture Fest, taking place Saturday, July 26, 2025, from 5 to 10 p.m. at the historic Miami Beach Bandshell. The outdoor concert and art experience will mark 50 years of Go-Go, the percussive, dance-driven sound that originated in Washington, D.C., and continues to influence music and culture across the nation.

Headlining the event are iconic Go-Go pioneers The Junkyard Band, best known for their hit songs “Sardines” and “The Word.” Also performing are The Black Passion Band, known for blending Go-Go with jazz, hip-hop, and R&B, and Top5 Band, a celebrated group from Prince George’s County, Maryland, now marking a decade of musical innovation.

The cultural celebration will also feature immersive art installations and live visuals. Miami-raised multimedia artist Marcus Blake will be joined by DMV-based visual creator Demont Pinder and Miami artist Rod Royal, adding a visual narrative to the musical performances. In addition, one local artist will paint live during the event, enhancing the sensory experience.

As a highlight, the festival will preview the Expo Metro Barcelona Art Exhibition, which debuts in Spain this June. Attendees will get a first look at the animated art mapping installation “Listening to Music,” a 36-piece collection paying tribute to five decades of Go-Go, adapted to reflect both its D.C. roots and Spanish influences.

The event will take place rain or shine at the Miami Beach Bandshell, a venue that holds up to 2,000 people and has hosted internationally recognized performers. Managed by the Rhythm Foundation, the Bandshell is a key part of Miami Beach’s cultural landscape and serves as a gathering place for major community events.

Guests can enjoy food and drink specials from on-site vendors throughout the evening. Tickets are available as individual purchases or as part of the broader Miami Takeover Weekend Party Pass.
